Politics Society Meeting
On Friday 3 February one of the most recently created Liberal Democrat life peers, Baron Stoneham of Droxford, will be addressing us on the subject of ‘Politics, Journalism and the Coalition’. He is well qualified to speak on both politics and the press, having been a Labour, SDP and Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate and, from 2003-10, serving as the Lib Dems’ operations director. He has also had a distinguished career in local newspapers, which included a period as Chief Executive of Portsmouth and Sunderland Newspapers, owners of the Portsmouth News. Lord Stoneham made news himself earlier this year when he raised the issue of the super-injunction obtained by Sir Fred Goodwin, former chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Refreshments are available from 7pm in the Auditorium
