Carnarvon

We arrange our own pool tournament and ladder, table football tournament and ladder, and a chess ladder. Naturally we will enjoy sampling the culinary delights of various dishes produced by the “chefs” amongst us as they rustle-up the occasional meal. If this is not ‘up to scratch’ we will enjoy a take-away evening, whilst watching a recorded game from the Rugby World Cup on our giant screen.

Woodlands

Chinese New YearActivities in Woodlands are largely of a culinary nature! Whilst noodles topped with spam or eggs (or almost anything else) can be seen on any evening, more specialist delicacies - Chinese dumplings with Udon Noodles, Mooncake and Rice Balls are prepared for our celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Pancake and the occasional Pizza Evening take place on an ad-hoc basis and, rather more occasionally, a taco or two! Food for the Chinese Hot Pot which provides an interesting focus for the house Christmas Celebrations can include chicken and pork, sausages and various vegetables.

Pupils take part in the various sports activities which are organised through our prefect system, and an important feature of the Autumn Term, is the start of training for the Lion Dance, in preparation for the Chinese New Year in the Spring Term -more of that later!!

Linnholm

Miss Godfrey plans to enthral her girls with lessons in the kitchen, teaching them how to bake cakes, muffins and biscuits. Over and above the normal Sports Hall activities, she will also be running her own badminton tournament during the week, and will plan some enjoyable outings on Saturdays, often with the West End boys too.

St Donats

Mr Murray knows teenagers well, and is anticipating the inevitable request for more functions within the House involving the consumption of Food! With this in mind, he plans to have some Hot Dog and popcorn evenings in the lounge whilst the boys relax watching a DVD on the huge screen. There is also the option of having a Pizza Night, with the boys taking an active part in the preparation.

He also has plans for a “WII OLYMPICS” to take place one night a week over a four week period. Teams of four will compete in various events – all on the big screen, to see which team emerges victorious. Medals may even be awarded to the winning team!

Should he be able to break the inevitable teenage “sleepathon”, he also plans to take his lads for an early morning stroll (on Saturdays or Sundays) to Southsea Common and the seafront.

West End

CyclingWest End Group 2011-12These young lads will be joined with the girls from Linnholm, and engaged in Sports Hall games, table games in the Social Area and swimming every fortnight. Mr Foakes also plans to introduce some other fun activities and events such as games on Southsea Common, visits to Southsea and Portchester Castles, early morning swims at the Eastney Pool, walks on Portsdown Hill and introducing them to the “art” of biscuit making!

Woodleigh

Mrs Ricks has chosen to entertain her older girls with the occasional Pizza evening, some DVD evenings, competitions using the WII Fit programme and taking them on shopping trips. She also plans to have baking lessons – delicious cakes for the community to share, and over some weekends to show the girls how to make casseroles!
