Welcome to the St John's College Website

St John’s is a thriving co-educational day and boarding school, for ages 2 to 18 (boarding from Year 5), located in the heart of Southsea. Since its foundation by Brothers of the Lasallian Order, the school’s mission has been to provide for its pupils a well-rounded academic, social and personal education – based securely on clear Christian principles and values; and we will be celebrating the first hundred years of this tradition in 2008.

'JOSEPH' -  the coat wasn't the only AMAZING thing!

Anyone who attended the College's production of 'Joseph' will understand this statement. Over three evenings, audiences were delighted by every aspect of the performance. The cast were confident and assured. The singing was excellent. The costumes were spot on. The technical aspects went without any (apparent) hitch. I could go on... and on. Many congratulations and thanks are due to everyone involved - cast and crew - and particularly to Miss Morley for her outstanding direction. Well done all.

Outstanding - Ofsted Report on Boarding at St John's.

We are delighted to report that the Ofsted team who recently inspected our Boarding Department judged our provision to be 'outstanding' overall, which means that the College provides a service of 'exceptionally high quality'. Areas of particular strength identified included the 'excellent relationships' between staff and pupils. The young people, it was found, are 'treated with respect and warmth', enjoy the boarding experience, and present as 'confident, polite and out-going'. Also praised were the 'strong leadership' offered, the 'excellent' policies, procedures and systems; the high standard of accommodation; and the large range of activities on offer. Needless to say we are very pleased indeed!

College launches St John's Timeline Project

As part of our centenary celebrations the College plans to inaugurate a 'timeline' archive'- to which all those who have been associated with the school as pupils or staff are invited to contribute. This will gradually develop into a comprehensive archive of life at St John's. Full details are available on the Centenary Celebrations page.
