Infant & Junior School
Introduction
A word from the Junior School Headmaster, Mr Tony Shrubsall
When I first started as Headmaster of the Junior School in 1998 I was immediately struck by the warm, friendly atmosphere at St John’s and the confident, happy children. Over the years this hasn’t changed and as I walk around the school today I see motivated and enthusiastic pupils who enjoy being here and certainly take advantage of all that St John’s College has to offer.
We are fortunate to benefit from excellent and well-maintained facilities but much more importantly our talented teachers are dedicated to providing the best learning opportunities for the children in their care. I believe we offer a high quality education and each week I am delighted to celebrate the children’s numerous achievements in assembly or on the website. We have high expectations for our pupils and encourage them to reach their goals. My own children often talk about how they enjoyed the time they spent at St John’s and I know how well they were prepared for their Senior School education and beyond.
If you are keen to find out more and meet pupils and staff please contact Admissions on 023 9281 5118 to arrange a visit, or come along to one of our Open Events. Our Fees are published here.

After School Care
Our After School Care is a service provided for Year 5 and 6 boarders and those families of St John’s pupils who require care after the school day. After School Care runs from 3.30pm to 5.30pm during term time only.
During the session children have the opportunity to play outside; they also have access to the ICT facilities and the school Library. The Hall is set up as a play environment and the infants use the reception classroom and its smaller outdoor area. Fresh fruit and squash is available throughout the session.
There is time set aside for children to work on their homework. Staff encourage children to complete their work and one member of staff supervises the area.
Costs £3 per hour (or part hour) added retrospectively to the termly invoice.
