Junior School
Welcome to the St John’s Junior School web pages. The Junior section of the school (also known as the Lower School) educates children between the ages of 4 and 11. It comprises a Pre-Preparatory Department (Reception-Year 2) and Preparatory Department (Years 3-6).
Our key aims are:
- to enable our pupils to benefit from a broad-based and challenging curriculum that will help each individual to realise their full academic potential;
- to encourage our pupils to develop a range of key transferable skills that will help them to prepare for success in an ever-changing world;
- to offer our pupils a breadth and depth of enriching aesthetic, cultural and spiritual experience as a means of encouraging their personal development.
The Junior School is housed in its own attractive buildings on the main College campus. This enables the children to enjoy their own safe and secure environment, and also to benefit from ready access to many Senior (Upper) School facilities – such as Chapel, Sports Hall, and Refectory. Our classrooms are bright, spacious and well resourced, and we have our own well-equipped Science laboratory, ICT suite, Library and Art and Design room. All classes have a class teacher who takes charge of their overall development and day-to-day pastoral care – and who teaches the majority of their lessons.
