Junior School Curriculum
As stated, we aim to deliver a broad-based and challenging curriculum. Within the Pre-Preparatory Department pupils study all the National Curriculum subjects, with an additional lesson of French. The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is also followed by our youngest children. There are cross-curricular links between many subjects. A number of educational visits are organised every year to support and broaden the children’s learning experience.
In the Preparatory Department children are encouraged to become more independent and organised in their ways of working. All National curriculum subjects are studied, some by specialist teachers. ICT is an integral part of the curriculum, being applied practically to many subjects. Homework is usually set each night and is carefully monitored. Again, many additional trips and visits are arranged to support the taught curriculum. Pupils are taken, each week, to the College playing fields for Games.
Throughout the Lower School, individual learning support is provided for any child who requires it. A specific curriculum extension programme is available for those children identified as particularly able or talented.
