Our Library
Our library is a large, comfortable, purpose-built room with 12 networked computers – providing a flexible learning environment for the whole school. The library is supervised at all times and is open from 8.15am to 4.30pm from Monday to Thursday, and 8.15am to 3.40pm on a Friday. Boarders in Year 7 to 9 use the library for their homework every afternoon after school until 5.45pm.
Every pupil is automatically a member of the Library. We use Eclipse.net as our Library Management Computer. As it is networked, the catalogue can be searched using any computer in the school, thus increasing the range and flexibility of the library as a whole-school resource. As well as using eclipse.net to search for books held in the library, pupils can also use it to search 10,000 websites that are all approved for school use and relevant to the curriculum.
Scholastic Bookclub
The Scholastic Book Club has now been setup so that current St John's parents can order online. This means no more filling in order forms and sending your child to school with money or cheques.
The service is quick and easy to use and also means you can now order all the books in your Book Club leaflet plus many more. Most books have up to 50% off and 20p in every £1 spent goes back to the school in free books for the library.
Orders will be delivered to school, there are no p & p charges, and orders can be collected from the library or sent home with your child.
