On Monday, June 10th Year 6 pupils travelled to Dell Quay, near Chichester. It has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and, during our visit there, we were able to study a number of different habitats.

Year 5 Activity Holiday

22 pupils from Year 5 and three staff spent their half term break on an adventure holiday at Little Canada on the Isle of Wight.

Monday’s mission was to travel to Little Canada. The group arrived in the afternoon and after unpacking we were shown around the site and the children were given their programme of events for the holiday.

This term has seen the introduction of some exciting new co-curricular clubs in our Junior School. 

Chris Cox, from Spirit in Sport, has started to run an energetic multi-sports clubs for Pre-Prep children on Mondays after school.  This is in addition to his Friday club for Preps.

Today, Friday 17 May, Year 3 pupils visited Old Portsmouth and Viviers Fish Market as part of their Geography work on the Signs and Symbols of Portsmouth.

This week has been Keep Safe Week in the Junior School.

The week forms part of our PSHE programme and a variety of activities, visitors and talks were provided for the children.

St John's Singing Day

The sound of singing!

Last Friday, 3 May, was the inaugural St John’s Singing Day which took place all day in the NBH.

In total over 150 children aged between 9 and 13 years spent a day of fun and music making.  Of the 150 children, approximately 100 were visitors to St John’s. The choirs of Oakwood School, Sherborne House School and King’s Court School joined our St John’s Junior School Choir, Girls’ Choir and the Chapel Choir.

Year 6 and 7 trip to France

Year 6 and 7 trip to France

A party of 39 pupils and four staff spent the first week of the Easter break visiting the Chateau du Broutel in Rue, France. The week was spent visiting WWI historic sites as well as enjoying the French way of life with visits to a chocolate factory, a goat farm, a bakery and a number of hours exploring a French market.

Geography trip to Tuppenny Farm

The trip formed part of their Geography work on land and its uses. Pupils had a tour of the small holding including the new eco-friendly visitor centre and the farm shop.

National Waste Week

Our Junior School Council led an assembly on Monday to introduce National Waste Week.  They told children how important it was to reduce, reuse and recycle.  They also presented some of their own ideas about how to make a difference to our school's waste.
