Year Two

Year 2Year Two is the final year in the Infant Department (Pre-Prep) and children enjoy a rich and varied curriculum in preparation for their move to the Junior Department (Preps).

We provide a challenging academic curriculum including specialist teaching in French, Music, Art and PE supported by a number of trips and educational visits to places of interest. Recently these have included Staunton Country Park, The Weald and Downland Museum and the City Museum. In the summer term, we take the children to our extensive playing fields each week for Games sessions.

Some of our favourite topics in Year Two are Space, Famous People and The Great Fire of London. We enjoy transforming our classrooms to reflect these themes. It’s been a Space Station, Travel Agents and even Samuel Pepys’ house! In Design and Technology, we enjoy building our beach buggy.

Chapel services take place each week and Year Two lead the Nativity at Christmas, often reading the main parts. We enjoy sharing our thoughts together in Prayer and Circle Times.

Literacy, Numeracy and Science form our ‘core’ curriculum and we also use the school Library and ICT Suite each week although we have lots of technology in the classroom too.

When Year Two comes to an end everyone receives a Certificate of Achievement at our Pre-Prep Celebration Assembly in front of all the parents!
