Senior School curriculum
To enable this be achieved, we ensure that our curriculum is well suited to the needs of our intake. All pupils follow a broad and balanced curriculum at Key Stage 3 (Years7-9). This includes English, Maths, Sciences, French, Spanish, Art, Drama, Games and PE, Geography, History, RE, Music, Design technology, ICT and PSHE.
At GCSE all students study English and Literature, Maths, Science and RE. All are strongly advised to study at least one Modern Foreign Language. At GCSE and A-level, we offer a wide range of option subjects - allowing pupils both to build on established strengths and to extend their academic range. Excellent careers advice is provided throughout these years, and when the time comes careful support is given through the UCAS process.
Current GCSE option subjects: French, Spanish, Business Studies, Art, Drama, PE, Geography, History, Music, Design Technology, ICT.
Current AS/A2 level subjects: English Literature, Mathematics, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Psychology, French, Spanish, Economics, History, Politics, Art, Drama, PE, Geography, Music, Design Technology, ICT.
Excellent, personally tailored provision is made for those pupils who may need support with aspects of their learning – for whatever reason. This is provided as an addition to the curriculum on an individual or small group basis. Similarly, provision is made through our ‘able and talented’ programme for those who may benefit from additional academic challenge.
