Senior School pastoral care
We have clear structures, sound policies and tried and tested procedures to enable our pupils to feel valued and secure. The form and year group structure gives each child a sense of belonging. At the heart of it all, however, is the relationship between the pupil and his or her tutor. Our tutorial staff work hard to establish and maintain a warm, mutually rapport with their tutees. They are always ready to listen, to advise and to offer practical support. They are also the first ‘port of call’ for parents who may have a concern or issue to discuss. Other key staff – Matron, the College Chaplain, Heads of Year are also available to the children – and their parents – if and when need arises. At St John’s ‘every child matters’ – and we seek to take good care of them! We recognise that each pupil will have particular personal needs - their own strengths, their own areas for development, and their own times of stress and anxiety. We hold it to be a vital part of the school’s role to be aware of all these and to offer appropriate support and encouragement. This is vital to the success of the whole educational process, and we believe that our provision in this area is second to none.
