Sixth Form
The Sixth Form at St John’s is a thriving, well integrated part of the school community in all respects; yet, it retains a clear identity of its own. Students have their own comfortable and spacious study centre – Warleigh – which contains classrooms, ICT facilities, study rooms and recreational areas, whilst they also make use of the rest of the Upper School facilities.
The distinctive ethos of the Sixth Form seeks to foster independence and responsibility – within a structured, but relatively relaxed, environment. The students benefit from the support and guidance of dedicated personal tutors and expert specialist teachers. High levels of commitment and high standards of behaviour are expected – and high levels of attainment are the result. Sixth Formers also play an important role in the supervision and support of younger pupils, and many take on additional responsibility through the prefect system.
Detailed careers advice is offered to Sixth Formers from an early stage. This is linked to ongoing support in the university application process. UCAS applications are submitted early, and reinforced by mock interviews. The vast majority of our students go on to higher education at the institution of their choice.
